2 Principle of nitrogen production by air separation of carbon molecular sieve
The product belongs to carbon adsorbent, which is a porous material composed of carbon. The pore structure model is disorderly stacking carbon structure. Carbon molecular sieve is a non-polar compound, and its important properties are based on its microporous structure. Its ability to separate air depends on the different diffusion rates of various gases in the air in the micropores of carbon molecular sieve, or different adsorption forces, or two effects at the same time. Under equilibrium conditions, the adsorption capacity of carbon molecular sieve for oxygen and nitrogen is quite close, but the diffusion rate of oxygen molecules through the narrow pores of carbon molecular sieve microporous system is much faster than that of nitrogen molecules. Based on this performance, carbon molecular sieve can enrich nitrogen in the gas phase at a time far from equilibrium conditions.
3 Carbon molecular sieve air separation nitrogen production unit
This device is generally called nitrogen generator. The process flow is pressure swing adsorption (PSA method for short) at room temperature. PSA is an adsorption separation process without heat source. The adsorption capacity of carbon molecular sieve for the adsorbed components (mainly oxygen molecules) increases with the increase of its partial pressure and decreases with the decrease of its partial pressure. In this way, the carbon molecular sieve is adsorbed under pressure and desorbed under pressure to release the adsorbed components and regenerate the carbon molecular sieve.
The cycle operation of PSA process includes: pressurization and gas production; Pressure equalization; Pressure reduction and exhaust; Then pressurize and produce gas Several working stages can be divided into vacuum regeneration process and atmospheric regeneration process according to different regeneration methods of the process. In the two processes, the raw air is compressed and regulated by the air compressor, then enters the cooler and degreasing system, and then enters the carbon molecular sieve adsorption tower after drying. The product N2 is discharged from the upper part of the adsorption tower, and the adsorbed oxygen is directly discharged into the atmosphere from the lower part to achieve carbon molecular sieve regeneration.
4 Conditions to be controlled for nitrogen production from carbon molecular sieve
4.1. Pretreatment of raw air: It is very necessary for clean raw air to enter the carbon molecular sieve adsorption tower, because the oil vapor entering will block the pores of the carbon molecular sieve, which will greatly reduce the separation effect. After the raw air is compressed by the air compressor, not only the air temperature will rise, but also the oil vapor (especially the lubricating oil air compressor). Therefore, it needs to pass through the cooler, the degreasing, drying and other purification systems. Finally, the treated feed air enters the carbon molecular sieve adsorption tower.
4.2.Purity and gas yield of product nitrogen: carbon molecular sieve is used to produce nitrogen, and its N2 purity and gas yield can be adjusted according to the user's needs. If the gas yield is reduced, the N2 purity will be increased, otherwise, the N2 purity will be decreased. The user can adjust according to the actual needs, and take both into account to obtain nitrogen with low cost..
4.3. Pressure equalizing time: in the process of carbon molecular sieve nitrogen production, when the adsorption of an adsorption tower is completed, the high-pressure gas in the adsorption tower needs to be injected into the other regenerated adsorption tower from the upper and lower directions, so that the gas pressure of the two towers is the same. This process is called the pressure equalizing of the adsorption tower. Selecting an appropriate pressure equalizing time can not only recover energy, but also reduce the pulverization of carbon molecular sieve in the adsorption tower caused by impact, Extend the service life of carbon molecular sieve. Generally, the voltage equalizing time is 1-3 seconds.
4.4. Gas generation time: due to the different absorption and diffusion rates of carbon molecular sieves for oxygen and nitrogen, the adsorbed O2 will reach equilibrium in a short time. At this time, the adsorption amount of N2 is small, and the adsorption time is appropriately longer, which can save feed air, reduce energy consumption, reduce the valve switching frequency on the nitrogen generator, improve the stability of the device, and extend the service life of carbon molecular sieves. Generally, the adsorption time is 40~60 seconds.
5 Operating pressure: high adsorption pressure. The adsorption capacity is also large, so pressurized adsorption is beneficial, but the adsorption pressure is too high, and the air energy consumption and device requirements are also high, so it is necessary to select the adsorption pressure from the perspective of comprehensive energy consumption. It is suggested that the adsorption pressure of normal pressure regeneration process should be 0.6~0.8MPa.
6 Use temperature: because the adsorption process has exothermic effect, the adsorption temperature increases, and the adsorption capacity decreases, so selecting a lower adsorption temperature is conducive to the performance of nitrogen production. If conditions permit, it is beneficial to reduce the adsorption temperature for the process of nitrogen generator.
